News Radio
Blog

When I was a kid, my dad used to listen to WCBS 880 AM on his battery-powered radio while he shaved in the bathroom each morning. Sometimes he’d take the radio into the kitchen where we’d both catch the news, sports and few stories over breakfast before he left for work in the Big Apple.

A handful of years later, I remember waiting for the tone at the top of the hour to set my first clock-radio. And when my alarm rang each morning before school, I’d lie in bed half-asleep at zero-dark thirty listening to the first eight minutes of headlines followed by traffic and weather together on the eights. Only then would I drag my butt out of bed with just enough knowledge about the world (and weather) to have something smart and topical to talk about at school.
