About the job
Title: Senior Software Engineer – Ad Tech
Location: Remote / Hybrid (periodic NYC office collaboration)
Type: Full-Time
The Role:
We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and optimize scalable, real-time systems that power Symitri’s privacy-first ad targeting and audience modeling capabilities. You’ll help build the foundation for a high-performance platform capable of processing billions of daily ad requests, supporting programmatic buying, predictive inference, and privacy-centric data flows. This is a hands-on engineering role in a fast-paced environment—ideal for someone who thrives on performance tuning and system design at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Software Engineering & System Architecture
- Design and build low-latency, high-throughput systems for programmatic ad delivery
- Develop scalable microservices and APIs to support real-time bidding (RTB) workflows
- Ensure system reliability, fault-tolerance, and high availability across production environments
Ad Tech Integration & Optimization
- Implement and improve RTB mechanics, auction logic, and bid prediction models
- Build and maintain data pipelines for campaign metrics, audience signals, and conversion tracking
- Build toward integrating with DSPs, SSPs, DMPs, and CDPs for real-time data activation, measurement and optimization across the programmatic supply-chain
Performance Tuning & Analytics
- Monitor and improve response times, throughput, and reliability using real-time analytics
- Implement inference models, machine learning and predictive modeling techniques to improve targeting, budget allocation, and campaign effectiveness
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across high-volume streaming architectures
Collaboration & Team Leadership
- Partner with product managers to define and deliver technical solutions that align with business goals
- Collaborate with data science and platform teams to deploy inference models and optimize performance
- Lead code reviews, contribute to system design discussions, and mentor junior engineers
What You’ll Bring to Symitri
- 5+ years of software development experience in distributed, high-scale systems
- Deep knowledge of programmatic advertising and ad tech protocols (OpenRTB, DSP/SSP/CDP/DMP stacks)
- Proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, or Golang
- Experience with containerized infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and streaming data tools (Kafka, Spark, Flink)
- Strong understanding of database systems (Redis, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, BigQuery)
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex system issues in production environments
Nice to Have
- Experience working with ML inference models in production
- Exposure to digital ad auction theory, bid optimization, or reinforcement learning
- Familiarity with data privacy standards (GDPR, US State regs) and privacy-preserving data techniques
What Success Looks Like
- You deliver performant, scalable services that handle real-time traffic under load
- Your code and architectural choices elevate system reliability and maintainability
- You’re trusted across engineering and product teams as a technical problem-solver
- You help evolve Symitri’s ad platform to support cutting-edge targeting and analytics
